Alright, So I have a normal cell phone, and I have the iPod touch. I love the touch, but Id like to be able to check things like maps without having to have a wifi point. My solution is to buy an iphone, and unlock it. So my normal cell phone is virgin mobile, and I don't think it's possible to make the iphone have virgin mobile USA as the carrier. With a low budget, under 30 maybe? Could I get an unlimited text plan, and data if nesseccary, but voice all I would need is a bit. I don't talk on it much.

I doubt it. If you dont have a data plan of some sort on an iPhone, but it's still able to access a data network, you'll pretty much go broke once a month. The cheapest plan I could get, and it's what the guy that worked at the store had, was about 80 a month.

Switch to t-mobile. You can get a dirt cheap voice plan for like $25-30 the cheapest text plan is around $4 and edge for $5.99

No, you cannot use Virgin Mobile on the iPhone, even unlocked.

This is because the iPhone uses a SIM card, and Virgin Mobile does not.
