iPhone can phone home and kill apps?

    Apple has apparently included a blacklisting mechanism in iPhone OS 2.x via which the device can phone home, check for unauthorized applications, and disable them. The OS includes a URL that points to a page containing a list of unauthorized applications, specifically:

    If hackers wanted to disable that, I am sure they would be able to create something that would. I have confidence in the fact that most things apple makes in it's devices can be disabled.

    This phoning home to kill apps, would it affect the phone overall?

    They can brick the 3G, because of the S-gold chip. However, it is IMPOSSIBLE to completely brick the 2.5G or ipod

    But its VERY unlikely.
