Well, first off, I have an iPod Touch and my friend's offering to buy it for $220(why so high, I don't know). I figure that when the 3GS comes out, I can spend it on that. But what does billing look like on iPhones?

Do you have to pay for WiFi and other things that aren't apps?

    Any response is appreciated.

The iphone with contact is usually $60+ a month. It all depends on what plan you choose. You may want to hop over to the AT&T site or contact them.

WiFi connectivity, like the iPod touch, is not a service you pay. You'll be paying to use their cellular network. (2G, 3G)

I think pay as you go is best, with O2 the internet is free for 12 months, then £10 a month unlimited use, but thats optional.

Not sure whats its like in America, i also payed £410 fo rmy iPhone 3g.

Yes, because you're connecting via WiFi.

    anyways, on topic:

    a) iPhone will be $199
    b) wifi is free
    c) monthly bill will be atleast $70
    d) multiply 70 by 24, and add $199, and that will be the price for your iphone over 2 years, since you have to sign a 2 yr contract
    e) So I don't think you will be able to pay over $1800 for your iPhone if you sell your iPod Touch for $220...
    f) You are paying AT&T for the service (phone calling) and the 3G internet
you will pay $70 per month even if you don't use their 3G
any other apps are free (like fring or beejive IM, etc.)

i think you mean multiply 70 by 24 months, and actually no matter what you have to pay the 30/mo for the data plan regardless, most iphone bills are easily 100 bucks a month so i figured that with 24 months and add the 200 for the original cost your iphone now costs 2600 for two years, but most of that is your cell service anyways which will be spent no matter what phone you have
