Well yesterday I jailbroke and installed the iPhone apps to my iPod Touch (1.1.2) All worked well yesterday but now the stocks and weather info are failing to update.

When I first open the application you'll see the "updating" and a few minutes of waiting it says, "Update failed."

The wireless connection seems fine, Safari works. Is this normal to see periodically or is something wrong?

Remove them and add them this way...through installer....

    https://repo.us.to

    Add it to installer sources.

That's the way I installed them the first time.

I think the server's down. Weather was working yesterday, but isn't working right now.

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one having the problem. Is this a server that Apple maintains?

    Maybe this is intentional ?

I'm thinking that Apple may have done this deliberately. The fact that Safari and Youtube work fine, but Weather, Stocks, and Maps are unable to get new data makes me think that Apple has somehow started preventing those services from being accessed by the Ipod Touch.

    I guess the questions are:

Is anybody with an Ipod Touch able to get *new* data for these apps ??? (note that Maps has a cache of previous data you've looked up, so make sure you request an entirely new area to test)

Is anybody with an Iphone able to confirm that these services still work fine for them ???

Don't worry, if Apple did do this deliberately I'm certain they'll be a hack for it shortly
