The jailbreak happened. Being able to apply it using an iPhone is new.

Being able to use OpeniBoot to jailbreak a PS3 is a few days old.

Does anyone know if they've come up with a hack that means you don't need a disc inserted? I have two PS3s and one has a dead BluRay drive.

How would it be able to read the game? You would need to install the entire game on your hard drive, which takes up more space than you imagine. Plus, you can't install it without the disk, so, while that is very useful, I can't see it happening.

You could install it to your harddrive, then transfer via external HDD to the one with the dead blu-ray.

Hm...well it looks like I now have a reason to dust off my iPod Touch 1g. Although I don't feel like installing Ubuntu atm.

Maybe, but that would involve downloading them which would be illegal. Maybe you can get it fixed? where do you live USA or UK? in the USA you can get it fixed at a very affordable price, it might be worth a try.
