This is a discussion thread for the "iPhone 5 Shipping Estimates Already Slip Two Weeks" story posted on the front page.
Can anybody tell me why you can't preorder the damn thing unlocked? Where I live, it's >200$ more expensive than in the US, and if I wait until the 21st, the shipping time will have probaly increased to 3-4 weeks -_-
In Canada, you can preorder them unlocked aha And from what I've heard, apple won't be selling them unlocked in the US for several more weeks.
Given previous data of each new generation iPhone outselling the previous in the first couple of weeks why doesn't Apple plan for this and make a lot of the new iPhones before even officially announcing it? Obviously they're going to sell them all so it's not like they'll be losing money making more to be prepared for the demand.
if you're on AT&T, you can try using the chat function for AT&T's customer service on their website to order. Just placed my order through them and hour ago and the shipping date is still on the 21st.
It will take longer just like the 4S did. Apple wants to use every device made to sell to the majority of consumers (on contract). Most likely October.
