Everyones head about gizmodo getting ahold a "prototype" iphone. But why didnt apple track it? Well my question is if they had it in airplane mode, Would they still be able to track it cause it cant get any radio waves right? was just wondering about it.

That's a good question. I'm not 100% on the answer but I'm pretty sure there is still a way to track the phone, even if it's in airplane mode. However, I may be wrong.

I'd think there would be a way.

Airplane mode doesn't disable the GPS I believe, so they should have been able to track it.

Well apple would have known gizmondo had the iphone, gizmondo said that some gave it to them on their blog, bet some worker saw it and reported it.

Or maybe Apple does check around on blogs and whatnot to see what people are saying. Maybe, doubt it, but you never know.

Your wrong. You cant track your location on the map application with airplane mode on. hence it obviously disables GPS if I am correct.

No, not entirely true, theres a difference in tracking using E911 and using the GPS.

On my phone I can have it on E911 GPS and it won't find me on VZNavigator, but a 911 operator can find me.

MobileMe tracking is broken in 4.0.
