If I were to buy an iphone 4, do I have to buy a contract with it? Since, I want to unlock the phone, and use my current SIM card. As well, can I just use any SIM card I have after I unlock the phone?

Then you'll need a two-year ATT service contract.

EDIT: After you unlock the phone you need a GSM sim card. (aka AT&T or T-Mobile)

You might be able to get a no-commitment plan if you pay over 600 dollars.

Thanks for the info. I think I will decide, if I really need one then, because I really didn't want a contract. So, is that true, even if you buy an iphone 4 online? Instead of retail stores.

Edit: I didn't see your edit before I replied. I wouldn't mind doing that, if I could avoid the contract. Thanks again.
