why is the ipad the fastest if it only has 256 mb of ram. shouldnt is be slower than the iphone 4 with its 512 mb of ram? and where does the ipt4 come in to play? is there some benchmarks someone could give a link to for all 3 of them? thanks.

Ram has nothing to do with speed. Well it does, but the main power is cpu aka the A4 Processor.

More ram doesn't mean faster. Ram just helps the device handle multiple processes at the same time. So more ram on the iPhone 4 just means that it can handle more backgrounded apps compared to the iPad and iPod Touch 4G.

The iPad is fastest of all 3 devices because the iPhone/iPod Touch's processor is underclocked to save battery life, otherwise it would die very quickly.
