This is getting a little frustrating...
This started happening Monday: I start the Camera app, and after a couple seconds the camera freezes. I can still press the shutter button and take pictures, but they are just snapshots of that frozen frame.
The same happens when I switch to video, after a couple seconds the frame will freeze, and I can keep recording the audio, but the frame is just frozen.

This also happens with 3rd party apps like Camera+

I tried respring, reboot, hard reset, and nothing.
As a last resource I did a restore, jailbreak, restored my stuff from my iTunes backup, and PKGBackup, and it seemed fine but the next day it happened again.

The only way it works and doesn't freeze, is when I open the camera with the LockScreen icon.

    Anyone else experienced this?

Either a jailbreak tweak or a bad backup. Restore as new iPhone.

Yeah that's what I figured I would have to do as a last resource... but that means I would lose my texts, notes, game data, etc.

Is there a way to back those up other than extracting the files via SSH??

Try restoring from backup(so you don't loose anything) but don't jailbreak. Use it for a couple days and see if your problem persists; if not then jailbreak and install your tweaks one by one. Eventually you'll find out what is causing your issue.

Thanks, I'll try that first since I don't want to go through the hassle of manually backing up and restoring my stuff after a clean restore.
    Hopefully it all works fine.

Thank you, this is really helpful.
Although I'll use it as my last option lol

I jailbroke my phone just a few days ago and am having the exact same issues with my camera. Did you ever find the problem??

    I would recommend restore.

I had to restore and install the tweaks one by one.
