    Hi,

*disclaimer: I'm sorry if there's a thread like this before. I tried to search but some of the answers can't exactly answer my question

Long time lurker, first time poster.

    The Problem:
I reset my iphone 4 and it got "bricked" aka "stuck at apple logo forever". I managed to set it to DFU home by holding home button long enough.

My phone was jailbroken at 4.0.1 before it was "bricked" and now when i set it to DFU mode, i can only restore it to 4.0.2

    NOW,

I did save my SHSH blob before on tinyumbrealla but then I realized it said:
The following Devices/ECIDs can be restore safely:

    iPhone 4 4.0.2 (8A400)

Does that mean i can only downgrade it to a MAXIMUM of 4.0.2?
(PS: I was on 4.0.1 before i save my shsh blob)

So, the question is: Should I restore it to 4.0.2 and try downgrade it OR is there any method i could try?

    Thanks.

You saved them for 4.0.2 not 4.0.1.

Btw is it recommended to save SHSH blogs for 4.0.2?? If yes, then why?

i dont think saving the 4.0.2 will be that useful. i doubt it's gonna get JB'ing anyways. the devs will wait until the 4.1 release

Although you're on 4.0.1, Apple stopped signing it over a week ago. Therefore it was impossible for you to back it up.

Did you back them up with cydia as well on 4.01? Cause if you did you'll still be able to restore to 4.0.1 just by changing 1 host file in system32. Alls you would have had to do was hit that "make my life easier" or whatever it says on the front page in cydia

While its plugged in use umbrella to try to retrieve your shsh codes from cydia if there there. Otherwise you'll have to upgrade. And by the way, bricked means the device will not function at all, meaning it wont even go into dfu mode. Your iphone is not bricked
