I am going to buy an iPhone 4g from AT&T. I am from Turkey and I'm in college in USA but I'll return to Turkey for the summer. I am going to jailbreak and unlock it to use when I get back. I wonder If anything will happen to my contract with At&T ? Can I still use my AT&T after jailbreaking and unlocking it ?

Firstly there is no unlock developed for the iPhone 4 as of yet, all of the attention is currently on the SHAtter jailbreak. Secondly, if you get a contract with AT&T and go back to turkey, you will still have to pay for it, though you will not be able to make use of the service because you're in turkey. I suggest you take a ride up to toronto or other closer apple store in Canada and buy an unlocked iphone 4, that way you're not stuck with a contract and the phone is unlocked so you can use it when you go back to turkey with whatever carrier supports the iphone's phone frequencies. And to answer your final question, yes you can use at&t after jailbreaking and unlocking, though the jailbreak isn't released yet and the unlock doesn't exist yet.... this is all assuming you're still in the US.. if you're not then no you can't use the phone

I see, thnx pogoyoyo but I think I'll buy it from AT&T and I'll wait for the unlock to come up.

So you say there is no jailbreak for iPgone 4G ? Cant i do it with jailbreakme.com ?

Can't downgrade without SHSH saved, which you would need to save it FROM the lower firmware. You cant save it on 4.1. So pretty much either buy one from Canada (unlocked), Ebay (firmware 4.0.1 or lower), or craigslist (4.0.1 or lower)

Or the only way for me to jailbreak is to wait 4.1 jailbreak to come out right ? Cause I am going to buy it from AT&T

    EDIT:

    2 more quick questions,

1- Is there anyway that my iPhone 4G will be 4.0.1 ?
2- If it is going to be 4.1 and If something happens while jailbreaking in the future, can I restore it with 4.1 or do I still need SHSH for 4.1 ?

    1. No
    2. No, you dont need SHSH but its good to have so you can always downgrade if needed in the future.

BTW just know that nobody knows how long the unlock will take. You wont be able to use the iPhone if you leave the US.
