    hey I went to get my 12 day old iphone 4 replaced and they ran a few tests but they didnt find a probelm but there replacing it however I was asking her because they ran out of stock I have to wait I
    asked her if they iphone shes giving me is brand new or reburb
    she said apple dont deal using reburbs anymore there all brand new and the ones the replace are sent to be melt down and the glass is
    sent to a enviromental factory :s is that true?

    for real? so i guess she's only referring to all iP4 replacements. still that is fantastic

    no I also asked if the 3gs was the same and she said all the products are replaced brand new now? and the old ones are sent to be melt down and enviromently free

    yeah but I dont get it why would they just
    replace our fones brand new agian
    no other brands do that
    for example nokia?

    Hm, if this is true, this is great news.

    However, I was just on the phone with an Apple Expert today and was asking him about replacements. He said Apple's policy with replacements is that they can sometimes be new or refurbished, depending on your luck, although the two are indistinguishable. With refurbished units, the whole housing (including the front glass, the rear glass, and the middle piece) is replaced and some old parts may be used.

    I got mine replaced about two weeks after getting it on launch day and it was brand new, according to the Apple Expert. They can look it up by the serial number and tell you if it's new or a refurbished unit.

    no they cant every new one is given a new serial, I have asked

    Yes, each one is given a new serial. However, each serial tells if the device is new or refurbished, just like it tells if the device is still under warranty or when it was purchased.
