So, I just updated to 4.0.1, no problems like others... and I would like to share my results:

    1) Yup, the bar sizes are increased just like everyone else stated.

    2) In my location, I am getting less bars (1/2 less) than usual. Most likely because of Apple's claimed new bar calculating formula.

    3) Holding the device in your left hand, more specifically, the "Death Grip" will, in fact, result in a loss of bars. Only tested at my house where I lost bars on 4.0 as well.

    4) I have performed 3 tests using the speedtest.net app. Here are my results:

First Test (no "Death Grip" and 3 bars):

Second Test (no "Death Grip" and 4 bars):

Third Test ("Death Grip and 1 bar):

Yes, I am a little unsure of how that exactly happened... but that's why I did my third test and both the download/upload speeds were significantly increased.

I hope you are not misunderstood. The third test is NO DEATH GRIP.

EDIT: I believe that you want a LOW ping number as well.

I believe you are mistaken, the third test clearly says "Death Grip and 3 Bars" plus, the first two tests are no death grip.

Alright. I knew this would happen if I changed it. I figured I'd swap the 2nd and 3rd tests just for simplicity. I switched after I corrected you Ex-Touch.

You are right iBricked, something changed.

This test doesn't really prove anything, other than what we already know.
You can have 5 bars, and yet only get 100KB download speed, or you could have 1 bar, and get 1.5MB download speed. It all depends on how fast the 3G is.

And yes, you do want to have a lower ping.
