Well, the other thread didn't work. I'm just going to restore the damn thing. Just to be on the safe-side, will it stay unlockable if I upgrade it to 4.1? The iPhone 3GS was previously jailbroken/unlocked on 3.1.2

It won't be unlockable. 4.0 is though. Its best to just restore to 3.1.2. That way you don't have to worry about SHSH, etc etc.

Plus, you can use blackra1n on 3.1.2, which is pretty easy and straight forward.

Well, what do I have to do to get it working on 4.0? And if I go with 3.1.2, it won't give me an iTunes error?

It's my friends. I don't even know what the hell he has done with it but it's stuck on the SWOD. It was jailbroken and unlocked on 3.1.2 a while back by me. I'm figuring out if I should stay at 3.1.2 or upgrade/unlock 4.0.

You will need to move blackra1n into the apple fille (Google ASL.dll fix) in order for it to work properly.. I dont think you will need it but the link to exit recovery, and check/save shshs.. Is in my signature.
