    hey guys ive unlocked a 3g before but now i got a newer it seems 3GS. ive been reading stuff thats saying after serial number 135 you cant do it. so any tips would be appreciated my goal is a UNTETHERED unlock. like turning off phone sometimes :p.

    Untether using the latest redsn0w.

    To unlock it you would have to install the iPad baseband, which is known to break GPS and compass.

    umm you sure? ive been reading and people saying il brick my phone doing this....

    Theres a chance you will brick the phone. As Kona said:
    The compass will probably work. GPS- not a chance. The special firmware thing is also annoying- if you use the Update button in iTunes, congratulations! You just bricked your iPhone's baseband! Activation will be impossible unless you reflash the iPad baseband. Flashing the iPad baseband a second time can easily brick your iPhone permenantly (it didnt happen to me, but its possible). So to sum that all up:
