As you can see I have an iPhone 3G. But I feel that the 3GS is far superior, and I really like some of the features.

    I have a few questions:

    1) Anyone know how I can update it?
    2) The Price, Apple states (coming soon) on their website, whereas on the O2 website it says £275 for the 32GB one (for a new customer). I don't know how this price applies in my case?
    3) Does it have the same, or a similar, processor to the 2G?

    Links:

    Apple Store, UK
    O2 "General" new iPhone page
Pay Monthly Page - I'm on this contract

Ok, the last link, I'm very confused, because it has 3 upgrade options.

I'm not eligible for the first one, my iPhone was bought mid-december 2008.

The second one will cost £599. So no...

The third one doesn't offer an explanation.

    Thanks for helping.

the last one is that you pay out of your existing contract -- so for me, (I started in July last year) so I still have 6 months left, and am on the iPhone 35 contract, so I would need to pay £35 x 6 = £210 + the cost of a new contract (at the new customer price, as you take out a completely new contract).

    Hope that helps.

Dad bought his iPhone 3G in August and is on £35 a month for 18 months, if he wants it in august does that mean he has to pay the 6 months in advance, Start a NEW 18 month contract, then pay for the 6months he had to pay out to start the new contract again?????

Yup. Its more sensible to just keep the other contract and start a new one. That way you get more minutes at least.

No, he will just have to pay for the remaining 6 months of his current contract, and the new handset, and the £35pm or whatever, unless his credit rating is bad, in which case, a deposit may be required.

Yes but the new contract will also be 18 months and since you've paid for the next 6 months of your current contract to end it, you haven't used the free minutes on that contract.

Unless I'm missing something, it would be better to just get a new contract and let your old one run its course and give cancellation notice one month before it ends?

Thats absolute bull**** it would of made more sense just to pay those months in advance and then start a new contract when your old one finishes

So the upgrade terms are silly. I'd be happy to pay £300 for the 32GB, and just add it to my current contract, also handing in my 3G.
