    Hey everyone,

I'm not sure why but my silent switch randomly stopped working the other day. At first when you put it in silent, it would keep going on and off and so vibrating all the time randomly. Now it doesn't even go into silent at all. I've got warranty from Apple, and was wondering if it is covered?

If I was to go to them I should just restore my phone to factory settings, then go right? Jailbroken iPhone.

    Thanks for any replies!

I was in the Apple store the other day at the genius bar and the guy next to me had a problem with his silent switch, they checked it for drop damage then just replaced it

He had the applecare cover, don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Thanks for all the replies guys, sorry this is late, I kind of forgot I posted here.

I still haven't taken it to the Apple store, been busy, but I will.

As a temporary solution though, is there any other way to put it in silent mode? I tried going to like settings, but really couldn't put the volume completely off. Is there a free app that does this?

Thanks again for all the replies.

And when you said they replaced it, they gave him a brand new iphone? That would be awesome.

This exact same thing happened to my sister's iPhone. It was under warranty. We ran over to the apple store and they gave her a new one then and there. Good luck to you!

    Wow that sends great!

Also one question about warranty/Apple. I have warranty and expires in September, do I need to bring anything other than the iPhone when I go to the apple store? Receipt, or the original box? Thanks in advance to replies.

You shouldn't have to. They'll need the serial number, which is in the phone. I just had mine replaced with this problem yesterday.
