    Redsn0w 0.8 has been released by the Dev Team.

    Purplera1n is no longer the only iPhone 3G jailbreak tool as the new redsn0w adds support for it!

    Ultrasn0w now also has support for the 3G as well!

    Nice! They said they were going to wait til 3.1 but i guess geohot's purplera1n pushed
    this on them. I hope there are no repercussions for a (rushed?) release. We shall see

    Aww I thought I was one of the first to notice this, I was too lazy to post at like 8:30AM lol.

    If I get a 3GS soon, I will give redsn0w a whirl. In the iPhone general chat I have a thread about whether I should get one or not (cause there's a weird issue), let me know if u get the chance to read it!

    Or maybe they thought about what geohot said and even if Apple does patch it, they'll just figure out a way to get by it again. I mean that's the "right" way to do it according to geohot lol.

    Yeah this is cool, can't wait to get my iPhone 3G S

    ))))

    Just one question...why does everyone need a tutorial for using redsn0w it's so simple and easy to use...IMO the tuts for it are pointless...it's basically a tut in it self.

    I hope what Geohot said was true.

    I would hate to be getting my iPhone 3G S in a few weeks just to have it un-jailbreakable.

    Just to let you guys know, if you chose to install both cydia AND icy it WILL crash. Just restart the process and it will automatically detect that you are already in DFU mode and make sure you just chose cydia and not icy.

    Is this better than purplera1n? (read: should I switch?)

    Apparently both purplera!n and redsn0w0.8 use the same exploit, which is not coincidental but worrying. If they both found the same hole then maybe exploits are few in the 3GS 3.0 OS. Just speculating of course.
