Yeah, that would be tight if there was an easy exploit. I have a feeling there won't be.
All they need is a jailbreak and the unlock should work. The iPhone 3G S uses the X-Gold 608 baseband chip, same as in the iPhone 3G.
So there really is no "maybe" it is unlockable the same way the 3G is. Only problem is the jailbreak, But it may still be possible.
