Hi all, I'm new to this forum and I'm getting used to it =]

Back to topic, I have been notified by a friend that, I could only have a tethered jailbreak. What he said was : but your iphone is the new boot rom, like you bought it after the 49th week of 2009. new boot rom in 3.1.2 is still tethered

I was going to start jailbreaking, but when I saw this I was doubting that it would work for me. I saw in other forums, that if you add the 3rd, 4th, 5th digits of the serial and get less than 940 it's the old boot rom. I'm not sure about this, but I'll post it as well. My iPhone's serial number is xx003xZx3xx , so would it be old bootrom or new one?

I would just like to make sure that I could have a tethered or un-tethered jailbreak. I prefer un-tethered so I'm asking =]

Next Tuesday at 17.35... seriously, no one knows wehn an untethered jailbreakl will be out becu─▒se so far the hackers hasve not yet found a succesful exploit for the new boot-rom. In any case it's highly unlikely that if someone has found a boot-rom hole that they can use for a jailbreak that they will make a public release before the iPad and/or new 4G iPhone are released (i.e. April &/or June)

What's the big deal about tethered? Just jailbreak tethered. How often do you reboot anyways?

    .

You can just free up your RAM when you are jailbroken, though.
So there really wouldn't be a need to reboot or restart unless you had to.
