Is it safe to do so? See, I'm replacing the battery, and my iPhone is on, I want to know what would happen if I remove the battery while the iPhone is running.

Nothing good can come from this, just turn it off. Is there any reason it must be on?

Uh...turn it off? o_O Never safe to work on something while it's on...

Do you have a tethered Jailbreak or something?

Why would you NOT turn it off while soldering? you will short it out for a second or two when you desolder it and resolder the new one... and that will turn it off or potentaly fry it..

    You don't solder a 3GS, it uses pins/pads.

    What's that?
I think the simplest would be to cut the wires and use electrical tape.

There is no need to solder a 3GS while replacing a 3GS battery.

Nope, just really don't feel like reconnecting the pins.
    No, it's untethered. =P

Uhhh, I don't think you solder iPhone 3GS screens. You're thinking of an iPhone 4/4S
No no no no no. You don't have to do any of that. The most is unscrew some screws.

For those who don't know what the inside of a 3GS looks like:

P.S. I ripped the camera ribbon and now I don't have camera use anymore.
