So I have an iPhone 3GS and haven't updated it lately. I already jailbroke my iTouch 3G via blackra1n, and decided to jailbreak the iPhone too. It is running 3.0.1.

    I have 2 questions:

    1. Can I update to 3.1.2?
I only want to this if 3.1.2 is untethered.

    2. If not, how should I jailbreak it? Again, iPhone 3GS 3.0.1

    Thanks in advance!

    1. no you'll be forced to go to 3.1.3, no untethered jailbreak for MC's
    2. I never even heard of 3.0.1 so cant help you there

3.0.1 was only for iPhones, to fix an emergency messages app issue. but no, with the 3gs, you can't update to anything but 3.1.3 unless you had that firmware jailbroken on your device before.

Than how do I jailbreak it? Can I jailbreak 3.0.1 or do I have to downgrade to 3.0 (Is that possible)?

Thanks. So I use 3.0 firmware instead of 3.0.1? That's what it says to do.

Restore to a custom 3.1.2 (can be made w/ pwnagetool, or just look for one on google). If you want, you can restore to a custom 3.1.3 immediately afterwards. Can't restore directly to a custom 3.1.3 however.

I'm pretty sure it'll be untethered, since I don't think the new bootrom came out 'til after 3.1 was released.

All MC's are tethered as of now, no untethered
