iPhone 3G to be sold only at BM stores (not online) with IN-STORE ACTIVATION REQUIRED

Did anyone read this article from engadget? If so, that's very dissapointing since they're basically requiring you to sign away a 2 year contract with data before you take the phone out of the store...so basically no chance of unlocking/jailbreaking and sticking in another SIM card in there or a current ATT SIM card without data...

B&M=brick and mortar...aka not online and only in physical ATT and Apple stores...which will then require you to sign away a 2 year contract on the spot.
