On the iPhone 3g can the bottom left speaker blow out? Does turning the volume all the way up while playing music permanently damage the speaker? Can this cause the speaker to have worse sound quality?

Any speaker can blow out...it doesn permanently damage it unless you do it excessively...and yes it can

Thanks for the help. Have you ever turned the volume up all the way for just a little while and have you seen a difference of quality.

No its not really a sudden impact on speaker quality...just dont do it too much and you will be fine...

How loud is the 3G's speaker compared to the old iPhone's?

ouch... return it with all the pieces it came with within 30 days and they won't charge for a replacement... unless it was the original iPhone...

Does anyone know if the 3g speaker would fit into the old 2g iphone? Is it safe to assume the 3g one is louder and perhaps better?

no it isnt, there is a noticiable difference and the 3g is better

and i thought that mine had a blown out speaker on my old iphone but then i realized only one of those two parts on the bottom are supposed to make sound the other is a speaker

but anyway, apple put a volume cap in the firmware so you COULD blow it out but it would be very unlikely and take a VERY VERY VERY long time

I'm getting my white iPhone 3G sometime between the 20th and the 24th. I'm psyched =] I really want to test the speakers because I have an LG Voyager now, and it's impossible to manage music on that thing, but the speakers are decent, not great, but decent. I'm hoping the iPhone 3G will be close in volume and quality?
