I bought an iPhone 3g 16gb (relatively cheap) and it has some issues (won't make/receive calls, it hangs on the apple logo forever) that I want to try and fix. The guy I bought it from said that it got some water on it and now it displays "can't make/receive calls, something Apple support, phone needs repair". I've tried to get it into DFU with no luck. And it doesn't seem to want to take a charge, though it went from (completely) dead, to showing the lockscreen. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

Note: The computer (iTunes) doesn't see that an iPhone is plugged in.

Edit: It will charge from the wall, but not the computer or "occasionally" from the computer.

Edit#2: In the middle of charging (through the wall adapter), the iPhone turned off and is now displaying the Apple logo. It hangs fffffooooooorrrrrrrreeevvvver, but eventually goes back to the lockscreen. Wth?

    iPhone 3G (White)
    Hi.......
I started using the iPhone 3G S, I began to hear a high-pitched noise on my iPhone-recorded videos. At first I thought it was the environment, background noise, or just plain interference. However, once aware of the noise.I noticed it anytime the phone was recording audio, such as with voice memos. The whine is actually emitted by the speaker, and then becomes part of the recording. You will usually only hear it in quiet recordings.
So whats going wrong I am not able to understand it.Anybody have solutions then please post it here.

Plug headphones into the headphone jack before recording video.

The point of me posting this thread was to get help, not for somebody else to ask for help (in the same thread). Lol.

Oh, yeah, why did he do that?

Anyway, relating to YOUR post, DFU Mode will always work.
Plug it into your computer regardless of its state.
Hold down the home & power buttons for 15 seconds.
After 15 seconds, without releasing the home button... release the power button.
Continue holding only the home button until you hear a beep on your computer.

If you dont hear a beep on your computer after 30 seconds of holding the home button, try again.

If youve tried 15-30 times with no luck, the iPhone is completely shot.

Thanks for the advice, but I knew to try that already and no such like. The iPhone acts really strange, and I just want to know if there is hope for it. Oh well, it's getting taken to the Apple Store on Friday.

Edit: In my original post it states I tried DFU, lol.

I looked down the headphone jack for water damage, and it is partially red. I guess I"m screwed. :/
