Would Jailbreaking force me to wipe my iPhone?
Thanks a lot
umm it may. the new versions of quickpwn make it so that u don't get that little problem... but if u have recently updated ur baseband, u may not b able to... i also don't know if there is something like an NOR Flash. please search tho.. i'm sure that ull find an answer

Use QuickPwn, to jailbreak
If you want to unlock, you cant if your baseband is new...

i don't have an iphone.. Please Register or Log in to view images i'm working on getting one.... but yeah.... i'm an ipod touch kinda guy.. u know icrap... then one thing i do know tho is what u said... that if the baseband is new... so if u iphone came with 2.2.1 already installed... then ur screwed on the unlock.. if it didn't but u upgraded to 2.2.1.. ur still screwed.. if ur at 2.2.. then ur ok...
Depends on how you upgraded to 2.2.1. IF you used iTunes for it, then you are screwed.
If you used a different program and kept the baseband the same but only upgraded the FW, then you can unlock using yellowsn0w.
yeah i don't think that he used a custom 2.2.1 FW and kept the 2.2 baseband... cause i think u'd need to jailbreak rite... and if he knew what the jailbreak was and if he did it before.. he wouldn't b asking this question.... sooo... yeah....
You have a point.
yeah.. i'm working on getting an iphone 3g... so i'm hoping the dev team can find a way to get around the baseband...
His queston wasnt can he unlock though, it was "will jailbreaking wipe my iPhone" and the answer is.. No. (I believe) the new QuickPwn just flashes the NOR and doesnt wipe the device (used QuickPwn on a 2G iPhone tonight, and had to re jailbreak my 3G a couple weeks ago and it did NOT wipe it, although my restore did Please Register or Log in to view images)
you should be good...
yeah but i think that we are all assuming that he actually USES his iphone as his phone.. so in this case, he wont even be ABLE to jailbreak and have it for use at the same time.. due to the whole baseband issue... and we already answered his question about the jailbreak wiping his phone in the first few posts...
