I updated to 2.2.1 a long time ago, before I thought I would sell my iPhone. But I sold it to someone on Ebay who asked me to unlock it for them after buying it. Is there ANY way to unlock this either with some kind of device or software? She claims that some people know how to unlock it for T-Mobile, but I have a feeling that they are not using Yellowsn0w to unlock it.

    Info: Baseband 2.30.03
    Bootloader: 6.2
    SW: 2.2.1
    iPhone 3G

Also, is this 3.0 unlock reliable? Because I could just wait until wednesday, unlock it, then send it out.

I know, but I need to have information for this lady right now. I'm sure the Dev Team has an unlock, but I can't say when it will be released. It could be a week from now.

You don't understand, I can't wait. I need to have an answer for this person pretty soon. Is there ANY way to unlock 2.2.1?

    Would something like www.rebelsimcard.com work?

Well, I talked to her. She doesn't know much about computers and was confused when I tried to explain it to her. I'm just going to hold onto the iPhone until Wednesday (or the unlock comes out) and send it to her then.

if she doen't understand that much about computers, she might have trouble with the unlock... i.e. if she needs to restore, she's done.

so, let me get this straight.....

you list an iphone that has not been unlocked etc....

someone wins it and pays you, then asks you to unlock it for them?

i certainly hope that you are getting paid for this extra time and worry that your having.

personally, i would tell her no, then tell her to find someone on craigslist that will unlock it for her.

this way you covered your a$$ and if she has problems, she has someone local to her that can deal with her.

in my experience, you are asking for trouble from people like this.
