My iphone 2G is unactivated, and running the 1.0 firmware.

It is an american phone and i am trying to activate/jailbreak/unlock it in canada.

    I have searched everywhere...

The only thing that was close to working was the jailbreakme.com strategy, but the site doesn't exist anymore.

I think that the only way i can unlock it is without a computer because since its unactivated, other jailbreak methods won't recognize it.

    Thanks
    Matt

Just stating that doesn't help much, fyi.

How do I update to 3.1.3?

I have tried this method but it didn't turn out well because itunes doesnt let me restore/update it.

    Thanks

My Itunes is upt to date, version 9.1.1.12 to be exact.

Its just that i get an error message in itunes whenn i plug it in, the iphone's page says "We are unable to continue with your activation at this time."

Also tells me to contact customer support at AT&T but i live in canada so thats not really an option.

Try switching the phone off and putting it into dfu mode. (search google on how to do it)

iTunes should then bring up the device window (and not the activation one) where you can restore it to the latest version.
