to unlock iphone 2g, simply download quickpwn for windows (look at blog.iphone-dev.org), and follow the onscreen instructions. Choose unlock in quickpwn when you see it, and it will be unlocked during the jailbreak process.

Iphone 1g/2g's Unlock is so low level that no software can patch it, so once you have it unlocked you neednt worry about getting the un-unlocked due to a firmware upgrade.

as for the screen, no idea.

They don't do rep anymore on iPtf. Use QuickPwn if you are using Windows or use Pwnage Tool if you are on a Mac. Then just unlock it using one of those.

noremorse - if you are willing to send it in, I know of a service provider called Rapid Repair in Kalamazoo MI. I believe a full screen/digitizer replacement runs around $150

You sure about that? because I will upgrade to 3.0 when it comes out if I don't have to worry about my unlock.
