    hello guys

FW 2.1, by Quickpwn pwned, I use iTunes 8, OS: Win XP SP2

Ive a big problem with my iPhone. If I plug in the cable, the pc does not detect the iphone, if just plug in the charger theres no sound and the battery does not show that the iphone is charging. I also tried to connect the iphone to another pc -> did not work too.

The cable is ok, my ipod was detected without problems.

In addition I tried to restore with DFU mode, even in DFU mode my pc does not detect the iphone. There are no errors, just no reaction... -.-

Hope you guys can help me somehow

    best regards
    rene

you didnt happen to drop your iphone hard or spill and water on the plug were you connect it to the iphone?

check the pins on the connector on the bottom of iphone maybe a pin broke or came off maybe it broke off/jamed when you connect the usb cable..this to me seems like hardware issue not software..

no the pins are all fine.

actually theres a weird thing: when i connect the iphone with my pc while the iphone is switched off, it boots.

so i still think that its a software issue, but a huge one :-/

The iPhone connector has 30 pins, so it's possible that there are problems with some of the pins, which prevents charging/sync but doesn't stop the phone from recognizing that it's been plugged in.

Are you able to charge your phone at all, in any configuration?

I found out that the Flex Cable is the problem.
If you still have guarantee, go to the Apple store and let you give another one.

If not, there is a Do It Yourself Tutorial on ModMyI.com, just search "DIY flex cable" there.

Actually my PC recognised the iPhone after few weeks, I sometimes had to squezze or to shake it to get a connection :O

Unfortunately my iPhone fell down couple of days ago, so I will send it to the USA to get a new one from Apple

Having a similar problem here on a friends iPhone. Tried everything and now putting it down to either a dodgy battery or comm board. I fear the latter though and they are pricey to replace.

Did you try to open the iPhone and replace flex cable or something like that or you just tried after few weeks and the iPhone worked (detected on PC) ?!
I really don't know if I can do that!
