In jailbreak, xGPS may be the answer.

I have Touch 2G 3.0 and I use the xGPS "GPS Serial Hook" with it. I am also using GPS Pro "skin".

I am using Orange gadgets GPS360 add-on, and that is how I have GPS.

The xGPS website is here. They have a forum.

xGPS is for iPhone and Touch and it is found in Cydia.

    Here is the link.

It is for iPod Touch and for older models iPhones, before iPhones had GPS.

It is a powerful GPS receiver. I like it a lot.

It will recharge the iPod Touch, as well, when plugged in.

I only wish it had the little stick-outs on the side of the insert into the iPod Touch.

I would be less concerned about accidently losing it, if I took it hiking.

I think I will email Orange Gadgets about that.

edit: I did send that email.

I should add, I am perfectly happy with it for use in the car.

I just made a long driving trip, using it with Backgrounder, found in Cydia, and so, I could use Rest Areas, Around Me and MaqQuest apps, as well as, World Weather, The Weather Channel, and Weather Radar.

I also use ZIPcodes, because some apps rely on having the zipcode.
