    Hey everyone,

So a few weeks ago Cydia was updating and while it was updating with Lockscreen info (which i will say casues huge amounts of crashes)

it crashed and restarted my phone. Now Cydia crashes when i try to open it. I've tried to restore it from a back up and still the same problem. I've looked at the debug log in cydia, but i have no idea what its talking about. I'm running 3.0.1 but i'm curious to know if totally do a restore from scratch will my phone become bricked sence i'm using tmobile?

Also if i update to 3.1.2 i know the 3g and the 3gs the baseband isn't unlocked but is it for the 2g?

    Thanks everyone

The 2G is not affected by the new firmware; you are safe to take it up to 3.1.2. It is still unlockable with Pwnage Tool.

As far as your Cydia problem - I would just restore it to factory (create a backup first) and start over with a "fresh" iPhone.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't pwnage tool only for macs? I'm using a pc so I'd have to se blackra1n correct? And doing a fresh iPhone install wouldn't brick it would it?

No, it will not brick your iPhone. It will wipe all of your data though (that is why you create a backup and restore to that after the JB and unlock).

Yes Pwnage Tool is only for Mac.

Here's your options (that I can think of):
Restore to 3.1.2 but you will have to find a Mac or get the custom firmware.
Restore to 3.0 (or 3.0.1) and use Redsn0w.
If you update to 3.1.2 you can JB it with blackra1n but you won't be able to unlock it (also, you will need to activate it before you can run blackra1n).

The backup will basically save everything minus music, and videos. I know it saves SMS, phone info, settings, contacts, and photos (taken with the iPhone).

You will have to resync music, videos, email, podcasts etc..
