Are they the same thing? I have an iPhone 3G now, thank you thank you applause is not necessary, and want to use my iPod Touch as a guinea pig for hacking to have a few practice runs before i do it to my iPhone 3G and my friend's iPhones/iPods.

So my question is more or less - If i download the iPhone 3G 2.0 restore file, for free (cuz i have the iPhone i wont have to pay lol) can i use it on my iPod Touch and thus avoid the $13 fee?

Please only post if you actually know what you are talking about.

No. The iPod Touch, while using the iPhone OS, needs its own distribution of the OS. If you want to run 2.0 on your Touch, you need the Touch version of the OS.

no it wont work. You need an iPod touch firmware to upgrade an iPod touch.using an iPhone firmware would probably brick it
