My hotmail acct was recently hacked. While I await resolution on my email acct, I'd like to be able to at least use the other non-mail apps on my ipad. However, my ipad keeps prompting me for my Hotmail password and even after selecting "Cancel", the same password prompt reappears. Pressing the Home button doesn't bring me to the home screen (i.e. the password prompt stays), and rebooting hasn't fixed the problem either. How can I work around this email password issue so that I can use my ipad?

Ok, delete the account from Mails and install it back later when you need it.

Can this even be considered a work around?!

Remove the account and Verify your account on a browsers making sure the password is up to date. If you sync your mail accounts with iTunes or on OSX mail, it might be pulling the password of your outdated hotmail account. Remove your account from your iPad and make a new password on your hotmail account and re add the account on your iPad making sure all settings are correct.

You could try and go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calenders then go to your hotmail account and just deselect Mail, Contacts, Calenders and Reminders, it may stop asking for your password, May, I'm just guessing, Hope it helps though

There would not be a point in actually having a mail account if you disable all those services under settings....

He can't access it anyway, so if he goes to his hotmail account under the settings and turns them off, it won't pester him with incorrect password, and when it's sorted he can just change the password

    True.

That makes sense, I forgot he could not access it anyway. My fault.

I have read over here presented solution tips for your query, and someone is very useful too. I think you should uninstall your previous mail account and after then reinstall that and see what happens. I am sure I will give the positive results.

Just remove the account and wait till hotmail comes telling you everything is fixed before adding it back. Saves you from the irritation but gives you a little trouble later. Also, all these popups are animations that eat your battery life. Saves your RAM since the backgrounded process of checking would be off.
