Splendid. Now I can't wait for it to come out (if this is true, of course)! :p

I think it will have a retina display. Or at least one that looks retina from typical viewing distance.

    an
Yeah. You'd think the iPad 2's resolution screen that is just shrunk to a 7" screen would make the screen look pretty nice. Two inches difference is significant on a tablet's resolution.

What does a nexus 7 and embiggened iPad screen have to do with this? And these rumor's are as good as mine. I'm sorry but these "next-gen" rumors come up to the front page more than CNet (not a good thing). If people enjoy this than sorry for being a party pooper.

Put the iPad 3 battery inside an iPad 2 and you'd get days of battery life without even turning the screen off. Retina isn't the answer to everything, especially on the iPad 3 it requires quite a lot of power to keep all those pixels lighted and organized.

I still don't like the idea of an iPad mini. With a decent screen it could be ok, but I don't see the need.

They did put a new battery into the iPad 2. It can last 13 hours easily. The thing is after the iPad 3 came out, that's when Apple quietly made the battery enhancement on the iPad 2 battery. I'd take retina over the battery though. My eyes need retina displays.

New A5 chip, not a new battery in the iPad 2.4 variant.

Honestly I can live without retina displays (it killed me to make the switch from a ipt4 to an ip3gs though :/). I'd spring for battery life over a display, but thats just me :)
