I got an iPad 2 weeks ago, and then it broke, so i got a new one, at the apple store, the just gave me a new iPad, not a new box. This new one works fine, but the touchscreen sometimes becomes momentarily unresponsive. I have to tap the screen a few times before it will come back.

Happens when an app is buggy enough... or because of excessive reliance on the garbage collector, which works like *** on the iPad.

Bottom line is... not really a hardware issue. More of a software issue.

So I should restore it? Cause it even happens on the springboard

Sure. Restore and start from scratch and use it without installing any third-party app on the app store. If it still becomes unresponsive then maybe then it's a hardware issue.

I restored it, and am still having the same problem. It seems like the screen is going to sleep, and i need to tap it for it to come back

Does it do this on Apple's official apps?

I have noticed that after I have had it running for a few day and have several browser windows open that it gets a bit sluggish. All I do is shut down all of the open browser windows. If that does not work i completely power it off. Once it comes back on it is like brand new.

I don't know if it is your same issue but try it.

did you do a fresh restore and then restore from backup? because that can put the problem back on the iPad, set it up as new and see if thats the issue.

I have restored, not from a back up and it still seems a little buggy. And it isn't a bunch of things running either.

Then it must be a hardware issue. Try to talk to Apple about it, you might get a replacement.
