After seeing the news that MSI, ASUS, and Gigabyte had released iPad-friendly motherboard drivers, I was disappointed when I didn't see EVGA on the list. Later, I was forced to restore my iPad after a somehow failed attempt to enable voice control on my iPad. I left it restoring at 8% power when I left my house, hoping that it wouldn't die before it was done. Here I am, 7 hours later, and my iPad is currently at 67% battery. My iPad also says "Not Charging" in the corner.

Do iPads actually charge (albeit very slowly) over USB? Mine has shown to.

From what I have heard, they do charge. Though, they charge 2x faster from the wall charger. I could be wrong though.

On most motherboards, they don't charge. Mine happens to be one of those, but I found out that it actually does (only slowly). Since I posted this topic, it's gone up 3%. That's about 1% every 5 minutes, which is pretty bad.

Edit: After using my iPad, I found out that if I use it while charging via USB the battery does drain (but slower than usual).

It charges on USB but only when it's idle/locked. Otherwise, the device is only connected via USB to the PC and just that. If you leave it connected and go to sleep, it will be full when you wake up.

I believe Gizmodo did an article on this recently. They provided some neat solutions from what I remember. I'll try and find it.

Yes it will charge, but it will take something like 60 hours to fully charge.

This one, perhaps? While rereading old Gizmodo articles, I actually found a comment saying exactly what bahamutspirit said in his post.
