I currently have an iPod touch. I would, however, enjoy a bit more functionality and something a little closer to an actual laptop. Should I go with the iPad, or do you think that will be just like having a larger version of my iPod?

^ Definitely get that if you're after something nearer a laptop

    Woohoo, a consumer device! <sarcasm>

Better display than a netbook. Eyecandy instead of content. Entertainment everywhere. Digital books and digital textbooks.

No legal record of anything for you. Be a consumer.

If you want a nice UI and all that, go for iPad. If you want power, go for Netbook.

I mostly would use it at school for taking notes, doing research, and I would like to use it for java programming, but that is not needed. Do you guys think that the price will drop within a year of release?

If you want something more like a laptop, get a netbook. If you want a bigger ipod, get an ipad.

Maybe. Its already at $499. Which for Apple is amazingly cheap for a starting price for a product such of as this.
