It sure does. I really don't find it that important.

Agreed. Wish everyone would give it a rest already.

My bet is that it got scrapped quite quickly, as it would limit the rotation abilities. Obviously, unless you're holding the device in straight up and down portrait, that camera is taking a sideways or upside down picture. And no one wants that.

Either the bezels were already made, or just made with the slot for later as an option, I don't know.

But there's no way it will have a camera this year. I'd be surprised if it ever got one at all.

Maybe in generation 2 or 3, but I highly doubt it's going to be in the 1st generation.

That's what I've been thinking. Since a tablet isn't a desktop or laptop, it has no right or wrong position. So rotating the tablet would rotate camera, and mess up the viewing pleasure since it might be facing in places it shouldn't be or the picture may be upside down for whoever is viewing. The only way to fix it is to find a way to center it regardless of hows its being held. Wouldn't be surprised if Apple is already working on a solution.

Ehh, it would probably only take a software solution to fix the camera orientation, although the camera probably wouldn't produce the most flattering images if it's in your lap...I wouldn't be surprised to see people creating hackinpads with a grafted camera later on.
