    Likely iPad 2 updates...

I don't see any chance of a true Retina display coming to the iPad 2. I think the display may be upgraded to be brighter, better color, less fingerprint prone, and small tweaks like that. I think the iPad 2 will get larger memory versions ( 128 and/or 256 gig ), a forward facing camera to be used with facetime, a mini USB connector to replace the 30 pin one in order to comply with the new EU standards, and the same 3 axis gyro found in the iPhone and iTouch 4G. I just don't see Apple completely revamping the display, processor, or physical size for a few more years.

128gb for an ipad sounds unrealistic. maybe the lowest will be 64gb. 30 pin will stay because it's too bloody fast to implement the agreements.
    dual core maybe?

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple created some sort of proprietary memory card to be used with the iPad, iTouch, and iPhone so the memory can be user expandable. I don't see a Retina display happening, no mini USB ( yet ), a camera and gyro seem plausible and very likely. I doubt they will switch to a dual core processor in this update but it's definately coming. A smaller size version? Not gonna happen. The iPad sits perfectly between the iTouch and the small unibody Macbook in size and price.

To be honest, I'll be mad as hell if Apple shrinks the iPad at all, in terms of screen size. The big screen is what I love about the iPad.

    Apple won't change the resolution.

No, 128 GB isn't unrealistic. I bet there will be a 128 GB model because they want it to hold the amount a computer can so it can compete ;)

I'm guessing overall at $499 WiFi model:

    • 32GB storage + Same display
    • 800 MHz to 1 GHz Dual Core CPU (Pretty much all the upcoming tablets have dual core. IT would be pretty dumb of Apple to stick with single core. With low clocked dual core you could pull of batter battery life too, as well as more performance compared to like a 1.6 GHz single core.)
    • 512MB RAM
    • PowerVR SGX 540 GPU (2-3X faster than current one. Android has finally caught up and passed iOS here. GPU upgrade is mandatory NOW.)

And then the same specs will be there for 64GB and 128GB model. but $100 higher each time. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a 16GB model for $429 like they did with the iPod touch.

Agreed. 16:9 only really works for movies but the iPad is capable of much more and I love the form factor of the iPad screen. I have tried out some of the 7" Android devices which have 16:9 screens and I flat out don't like them!

Uh, If rumors are true, it will have a dual core processor. Hence, no more lagginess. I've never had my iPad or iPod touch overheat, and my iPad battery lasts about 10 hours with nonstop usage. Any other points that you'd like to exaggerate?

On another note. Sure, it might be impossible/extremely difficult for apple to make a 9 inch screen "retina" But what if they made 2 smaller screens, and added them together, split down the middle. It should be possible. And if they update the hardware to something faster, they'd be able to up the resolution support as well.
