This is a discussion thread for the "iPad 2 Resolution Change: All or Nothing" story posted on the front page.
Well besides all the technical crap I wrote in the thread, the iPad already has a gorgeous display. It doesn't have high dpi, but still manages to look amazing, mainly because everything is bigger and you look at it from farther away. I don't see why they would even need to upgrade.
Ya completely agree with iPwn, if a resolution upgrade was ever done It would not be anything close to retina, at the most i can see a 1080P res upgrade for the iPad 3G which even with a GPU upgrade will struggle to run graphic intensive games at such res of course devs could opt to downscale the game res to 720P Now that i think about it 1080P seems very plausible but not very likely for 2nd gen maybe 3rd gen, time will only tell will see What i can see it though is a Display upgrade maybe better viewing angle, color saturation, contrast etc.
Agreed. Anyways, I doubt a Galaxy Tab sized iPad would ever go into production. What would they even call it? The iPad Mini?
Its not like our laptop screens are Retina or whatever. Why would they make the iPad (which is kind of like a netbook) Retina?
The addition of FaceTime would be enough for me. The current resolution on the iPad (imo) is fine the way it is, although they should make it more fingerprint resistant.
They probably will scale up the resolution but no way they'll make. 7 inch tablet, that's a lame idea.
