i dont know if this is allowed or not so tell me if it isnt.

anyway, problem is that since this february the school has blocked any website with an ip in it. it means that im no longer able to use apps requiring wifi! this includes cydia, mafia wars, etc. does anyone have a solution??

    Well theres two solutions.
    1. Use a proxy.
    2. Use a VPN.
With that you'll be able to access your apps that require internet access.

can u elaborate on that pls?

the school blocks u if u enter an ip lik 1.1.1.1 or whatever so half the proxys dont work. and its an app like mafia wars or something so u cant use safari and proxy.

Well a Proxy and VPN are the same just configured differently.

The Proxy I'm telling you is with a IP Address.

A VPN = Virtual Private Network is basically the same thing.

You can find both services from many providers by searching on Google.

    Configure VPN
Choose Settings > General > Network > VPN and then choose Add VPN Configuration. Ask your network administrator which settings to use. In most cases, if you've set up a similar VPN on your computer, you can use the same VPN settings for your device.

    Turn VPN on or off
Once you've created a VPN configuration, the option to turn VPN on or off appears in the main Settings screen. When you are connected using VPN, the VPN icon appears in the status bar.

    To Change Proxy
Choose Settings > General > Network > WIFI > Choose the Network name and scroll down to proxy and click Manual and put the Server and Port.

I recommend you use a proxy like this...

Just search on Google Proxy's with numbers like by country.
    Hope this helps out anyone..

Click here. It says convert IP adress into hex decimals. I am also interested into bypassing my schools new proxy update... CIPA Filter.

ok ryu i think were on the same idea, problem is that bypassing filters on safari is easy, but to get a web based app like mafia wars to work i think u have to modify the app. not easy but that guide was very interesting.
