ok, why was my ip address banned? I have done nothing but contribute to this site. I would really like to know. And it won't let me get on anywhere in this dorm with my ipod or computer. its a computer engineering dorm, and we have access through wifi and ethernet but the dorm is only a few stories high, and I think it all leads back to a central router, would that make a difference? I would love to be able to get back on in the comfort of my room without having to go through a proxy.

That's your local IP address, not the one that would be banned. Go to www.whatsmyip.org, and PM the number at the top to bgizzle (you shouldn't give that out publicly).

oh ok, sorry, i sent pms.

the local ip address is address handed out by a your isp right, and can be changed easily
and the system ip address (what you wanted, right) is something that is implemented into the code of the computer right which i guess can be changed, but its near close to impossible, right?

just wondering, because being a computer engineer and all, I am probably supposed to know this, lol.

The local IP address is assigned by your router, and is usually determined by what order you connect devices to it (although you can manually set it).

Your public IP address is given by your ISP I believe, and it isn't that hard to change.
