Hiya, have a couple of questions about the new OS. I have a 8GB 3rd Gen iPod Touch

    1)Can I jailbreak it? (OS4)
2)If I update to os4, will I be able to downgrade again to 3.1.3 or something?
    3) Some of the features wont be available, but will someone find a way to make them available? Is it possible e.g. multitasking?

    1) No
    2) No
    3) Not sure

I was under the impression that 3rd Generation iPod Touchs aren't available for jailbreak yet. I also thought that iOS 4 was only for 32gb and iPT models?

    1. Not yet.
    2. If Apple stops signing it then no.
    3. Yes. Edit some plists by jailbreaking.

Sorry fellah, but you don't have a 3rd gen iTouch, only the 32/64Gb iTouches have the 3rd Gen hardware, the 8 you have is just a re-packaged 2nd Gen model.

Actually you will be able to downgrade just fine as far as I know. The MC model 8gb has always been able to downgrade just fine and I assume this is no different. I'm confident I'll even be able to downgrade my 3G also, because I have my SHSH backed up. Unless Apple changes the way we restore I think downgrading will work just fine.

Yeah, but all 3rd Generation ipods including 8gb MC models can be jailbroken atm. Its due to a new bootrom in them.

Well, don't worry geohot and dev team already have a exploit and are waiting for Apple to release iPhone 4 first. Be patient, i'm waiting too!

I don't think you need to backup your SHSH blobs. Wait for someone else to confirm, but I downgraded my friends iPod from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 with no trouble at all.

1)Yes you will be able to, but not now. A public jailbreak will be released pretty soon though.

2)You can downgrade, no problem. The 8GB models don't have to faff with SHSH blobs

3)The devs are incorporating that into the options when you jailbreak with redsn0w at the moment. They will presumably keep the options there in the final release. If they don't, theres tutorials on how to enable things like multitasking on this site. (its easy enough to do)
