I have actually found exactly the reverse -I updated last night and went to bed with the phone fully charged. Normally when I check in the morning it will have dropped to around 96% but this morning it was still showing 100%. Hopefully this will continue throughout the entire battery range.

I dont see how 4.0.1 can drain your battery faster.

It only has the signal algorithm fix in it...

On my 3GS the battery never lasted long on either.. I'm keeping my iPhone 4 on 4.0 though.. And I advise you all to do the same if you can.

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data. Turn push off, and reboot your iPhone.

    That helped me.
