So I updated to the iOS 4 GM and one thing I noticed is that when I "Canceled" my sync (by sliding the slider not through itunes) itunes kept syncing but I could access everything on the device besides music and videos and when i opened music it said canceling sync but it never did and as soon as itunes finished all the music showed up. i played guitar hero while it did all this and opened facebook and a few other apps. so either this is a really cool feature or a bad bug either way im counting it as a win!

It's just a bug. Happened to me on 2.x and 3.x before.

I never understood why, as long as the apps required (iPod, Contacts etc) were just unavailable or updated live, probably not a good idea for the iPod app though. I've always hated every time i open iTunes to play music (though i use Spotify now
