Now if it only worked without a network connection like Navigon.

This would be extremely useful in Montreal. That is if it wasn't US of A only.

    Roads? What roads!?

nice...but how 'real-timed' will it be?...seems traffic reports are quarter or even an hour off regardless of services used.

How do they update this information? Is it crowd sourced? If so how will they get people to participate?

I assume they buy the information from somewhere as part of the maps they license. It seems too specific to crowd source, at least in the beginning. Google Maps gets real-time traffic jam/slow-down data automatically from people using the navigation service by measuring the speed but I don't see how something like that would be specific enough to differentiate between a jam due to road works and other reasons. But who knows, perhaps there is a site that already tracks that kind of thing that has an API they could use.
