    This experiment is simple.
    Disable spotlight search on your phone/ipod:
    (settings->general->spotlight search)
    or
    (settings->general->home->search results)
    and uncheck them all.

    This has given a performance boost to some people, test it out.

    Deleting the launch daemon is also very effective.

    Deleting the Launch Deamons also is able to deactivate the Search fully, what boosts the device even more.

    @JakeMan What about people with non-jailbroken devices? This is the best we can do for these devices.

    And this did make my iPod run a bit faster

    Your smiley face is backwards. THIS is how you write a smiley ->

    Anyways, I tried this and I didn't really notice any improvement. Plus you can't disable the Web/Wikipedia search so it's not really entirely disabled.

    Maybe not a noticeable one, but it will save a tiny bit of battery :3

    Anyways, I have my own suggestion for performance improvement in non jailbroken devices. When done using Safari, close all open windows. The app is still running when a window is open.

    P.S. @Bl1tzkrieg, your smiley face is backwards lol.

    Well, only devices that NEED a performance boost will find a noticeable one, others like 3g ipod and 3gs are already perfectly capable so it might be a slighter change.

    These devices that need a performance boost don't do as well with indexing, so this should help.
