I have the iPod touch 3G and i jailbroke it when it was 3.1.3

After that, I restored it and updated it to ios4. I don't know for sure but I heard somewhere that the ram memory of the 3rd gen 32gb is suppose to be 256mb but when I check my Free Memory app, it only goes to a max of 150mb with no apps open in the multitasker. Is this because of the ios4 and its memory comsuption or is it because I restored my ipod wrong when i first jailbroke it?

    Thank you

It's iOS 4 using memory. The iPod touch 3g and the iPhone 3GS both have 256mb of memory, but you will never have 256mb free, unless your device is shut off.

But before I updated my iPod, sb settings told me the same thing and that I had 150mb of memory... I never experienced any crashes and only little lag. Should I be worried about this and get a replacement or is it fine?

The most ram i can get out of my iPod touch 3G 32gb is 176mb with some removed launch daemons.

Seriously you're fine. The most free memory my Touch has ever had is 67 MB. It's a second gen, but it's proof that you don't need more to survive. You've got plenty, even for a third gen.

    I second this.
You honestly won't need to background like 20+ apps..

iOS 4 backgrounding is less ram intensive than backgrounder anyway.
Also your device won't run any slower untill you hit around 15-8mb.

There's no way to know how much free memory you have without jailbreaking first.
